In what would prove to be quite the plot twist, could CM Punk be a part of AEW's upcoming Blood and Guts offering that will pit the Elite against the Blackpool Combat Club?

Via Fightful Select and Voices of Wrestling, CM Punk has pitched to be involved in the impending Blood and Guts offering, with the Second City Saint suggesting himself as being the fifth member of the Blackpool Combat Club's team for this hotly anticipated battle.

Of course, Bryan Danielson will be missing this match due to suffering a broken arm at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door last month, and AEW has now announced how both the Elite and BCC's line-ups for Blood and Guts will feature mystery partners.

The belief is that AEW already had the aforementioned mystery partners in place before Punk made his pitch, with many fans assuming Kota Ibushi will be joining the Elite team of Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, and 'Hangman' Adam Page.

In terms of CM Punk, it's not known how serious his pitch was or whether he expected his offer to be accepted. Obviously, Punk and the Elite have had major issues dating back prior to the infamous Brawl Out last September, and the Straight-Edge Superstar has also had some issues with Jon Moxley. Where Mox is concerned, it's said that he wasn't against the idea of having CM Punk join the Blackpool Combat Club for Blood and Guts.

This next Blood and Guts match is set to take place on the 19 July episode of AEW Dynamite.
