While many a wrestling fans longs for CM Punk to step back into the squared circle, the Second City Saint has added further fuel to the fire that we could see him step out of retirement to face Will Ospreay.

Earlier this month, Ospreay – who was fresh off winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship – called out both CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. And now, Punk has responded to the Aerial Assassin’s challenge.

Currently promoting new horror movie Jakob’s Wife, the Straight-Edge Superstar teased a match-up with Osprey during an interview with Digital Spy.

As the Chicago native explained:

“I don’t want to give people false hope in answering Ospreay, but he’s for sure somebody that I’ve never wrestled before that interests me a lot more than, I guess, the corporate side of professional wrestling nowadays. New and different things are going to interest me more than doing the same old, same old. I always need new goals. I don’t know, let’s see if he has it [the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship] at the end of the summer and then ask me the question again.”

Whether this leads anywhere, we’ll have to wait and see. One thing’s for certain, though – Punk vs. Ospreay is something that many a wrestling fan would be hugely excited to see.
