WWE was hesitant to book Brock Lesnar against a "smaller" guy like CM Punk. The company thought it would look unrealistic for a guy like CM Punk to go toe-to-toe with the beast known as Brock Lesnar. However, Brock Lesnar needed an opponent for SummerSlam and CM Punk was chosen yet again to be the guy to steal the show once again. The "No-Holds-Barred" stipulation added to the match saved criticism that CM Punk was too skinny to face Brock Lesnar. The addition of weapons helped CM Punk look like a real contender that could beat down Brock Lesnar. On the other hand, weapons just made the match more brutal and exciting than if it was just a normal singles match. This match once again just showed that CM Punk can work a match with anybody and make them look good. Brock Lesnar had a trio of boring matches with Triple H. This is the only time CM Punk ever faced Brock Lesnar and both men managed to make the match the best one of 2013. Criminally, this match was not even nominated for a Slammy award. The Slammy for best match in 2013 went to John Cena vs. The Rock at WrestleMania 29... Again, this was a match CM Punk lost but he still came out looking like a million bucks.
