Reigning AEW World Champion and known onscreen menace MJF has told the world how WWE's Cody Rhodes "loves a good white lie" during an interview with Shut Up And Wrestle. According to Friedman, Cody was 100% up to some hijinks when he told a little fib about the-then 19 year old to promoter Ethan Page.

Yes, that Ethan Page. He definitely wasn't 'All Ego' when running shows for Alpha-1. Putting on a good card and giving fans value for money was at the top of his agenda, not running people down on episodes of Raw.

MJF recalls Page coming up to him and asking why he'd told Rhodes he planned to hit on Ethan's sister. Friedman was astonished by what he was hearing, even more so when Ethan informed him that Cody had told this lie. So, in typical Max fashion, the future star (who, by his own admission, was a nobody back then) walked into Cody's dressing room and confronted him.

Rhodes apparently got a kick out of that, but it's baffling that he even fibbed at all. He didn't know MJF, so this was clearly a rib just for the hell of it, and one that could've gone badly wrong or resulted in a fight depending on Page's reaction.

Ultimately, MJF boldly confronting Cody ("because I'm an unwell person") made them friends. It also led to Friedman being booked on the All In show co-promoted by Rhodes, The Young Bucks and ROH in 2018. He doesn't think he had any business being on cards that lofty, but there he was.

It's amazing how things pan out.
