Cody Rhodes & The Rock Backstage WWE Meeting! WrestleMania 40 Main Event FINALLY Confirmed?

Will 'The American Nightmare' Finish The Story before 'The Great One' gets to The Head Of The Table?

Cody Rhodes and The Rock finally came together backstage when 'The Great One' returned for the Day 1 edition of Monday Night Raw earlier this month, and WrestleMania 40 finally seems to have a main event set in stone as a result...maybe.

Fightful Select reported that the pair embraced at the Gorilla position, in an act "of support to Cody Rhodes and what he’s been doing". However, this occurred before The Rock's promo on Jinder Mahal that involved the 'Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment' invoking Roman Reigns' "Head Of The Table" moniker and throwing the presumed showdown between Rhodes and Reigns into uncertainty.

The outlet crucially added;

Those that we spoke to said that they got the feeling that The Rock wasn’t there to “stand in the way of anything,” but did note it was before his promo and most didn’t know his “Head of the Table” line was coming. There had been word around WWE ahead of The Rock getting a board seat that WWE was trying to land him in some sort of contract or deal, but nobody expected anything to the scope of what happened on January 23. We’re also told by sources close to The Rock that he’s long been a proponent and supportive of Cody Rhodes, even while he was in All Elite Wrestling.

It does at least appear clear now that Rock's appearance was a quiet foreshadowing of his new role within TKO that dropped alongside WWE's Netflix news, but the road ahead for Cody Rhodes certainly looked clearer before the former eight-time WWE Champion reappeared on the scene.

This is the first semi-assurance since then that all still remains in place for Rhodes to Finish The Story, with the Royal Rumble and a blockbuster showdown with CM Punk set to mark the next chapter.
