Both Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez debated exactly who Randy Orton has been talking to over the phone during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. Alvarez said it "has to be The Rock", but Meltzer quickly shot that down by suggesting that WWE sources tell him it isn't the 'Final Boss' at all.

Of course, Dave then suggested that only a handful of higher-ups within the company would know if it was Rocky or not - they include the man himself, Triple H and Nick Khan. In other words, even Meltzer's in-house sources might not be too reliable on this topic, but he doesn't believe The Rock is on the other end of the line as the mystery man.

Orton has been shown speaking with somebody numerous times during his feud with Cody Rhodes though, and it's Cody that has linked some folks back to Dwayne Johnson. Rocky's last WWE TV appearances came against Rhodes, but he hasn't been seen since facilitating John Cena's (ultimately bungled) heel turn at Elimination Chamber 2025.

Many fans were left disappointed that Rocky didn't play a part in the match between Cody and Cena at WrestleMania 41. In lieu of that, WWE wheeled out Travis Scott to interfere in the main event, which proved to be a poor choice.

So, if it isn't The Rock, then who is Randy talking to? That's the million dollar question. Meltzer's sources inside the company have "strongly denied" that Johnson is even involved at all. Are they bluffing, or is 'The Great One' actually on the outside looking in with everyone else?
