Mustafa Ali hopes to use Sami Zayn as inspiration for an unlikely breakout run atop WWE.

The often-overlooked wrestler told Esquire Middle East that "the ebbs and flows" of WWE life were exemplified by Sami's rise up the ranks to headline WrestleMania 39. That isn't something anybody could've predicted even 12 months before, but his stunning performance opposite Roman Reigns during a supposed-to-be-one-off backstage skit changed everything.

WWE rolled with Zayn as an honorary member of The Bloodline, then the story grew arms and legs to become one of modern wrestling's best. That touched Mustafa, because it let him know that he shouldn't give up hopes of someday stealing the spotlight himself.

He described this willingness to keep plugging away as his "one solace", and said he greatly appreciates when fans show support for his cause on social media - that goes a long way with Ali and lets him know that people actually care about what he's doing.

Mustafa promises to keep putting his "heart and soul" into everything on WWE programming, and hopes to experience his very own Zayn-like push as soon as possible.
