Current Star Calls Prior WWE Struggles "Very Embarrassing"
A surprise feud with AJ Styles reignited this wrestler's struggling WWE career.
The Miz has revealed that a surprise feud vs. then WWE newcomer AJ Styles turned his entire company career around, and helped him deal with some "very embarrassing" struggles that almost made him miss major pay-per-views.
It's difficult to imagine WWE's product without the stalwart heel now, but 2016 was a tough time for him. Miz wasn't having the best time in-ring or on the mic, and his confidence started to take a dip. That's when AJ joined the promotion, worked some matches with Miz and things started to click again.
Most fans probably have zero recollection of their beef, but it worked wonders for The Miz.
He told Jay Glazer's 'Unbreakable' show that working with Styles helped him rediscover some form and regain lots of confidence as a performer. Looking back, he can also see that working with a WWE veteran also helped AJ bed into the roster and click with fans quickly.
Miz didn't give himself that sort of credit back then - he actually wondered if things would ever turn back around for him at all. They did. Again, it's hard to picture Raw or SmackDown without him in 2023.
