Current Star Shoots On WWE's "Missed Opportunity" During ThunderDome Era

This current SmackDown worker thinks WWE could've done more with the ThunderDome.

Sami Zayn views WWE's ThunderDome era as a bit of a "missed opportunity".

The SmackDown man reflected on that period during a chat with Ryan Satin's 'Out Of Character' show. According to Sami, the company could've done more to capitalise on the fact that fans weren't in buildings - it never made sense to him that programming was still filmed like people were in the stands either.

Zayn believed that the advent of the ThunderDome would push boundaries and help WWE find "some new, creative ways to do things". He cited his match vs. Daniel Bryan from WrestleMania 37 as a prime example of two workers who refused to pretend that the place wasn't empty, and that happened before the ThunderDome was created.

Who could ever forget that bizarre PC 'Mania weekend?

Sami went on to say that WWE was put "in a position to change the way we present the product" but didn't take "full advantage" of it. The entertaining heel, who lost quite the match to Johnny Knoxville at this year's 'Mania, also said that he was only offering his own opinion on the situation.
