Daniel Bryan Agrees Terms On New WWE Contract

Daniel Bryan, per the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, has finally put pen to paper on a new deal. WWE hasn't countersigned the agreement, but Dave Meltzer writes that this is a formality due to be made official in the coming days.

On Observer Radio of late, Meltzer has alluded to something "really weird" holding up the negotiations, but hasn't yet elaborated - nor has he learned of or disclosed the length of the contract. Meltzer did however state that this was not an "easy" decision for Bryan. We can infer from that tidbit that Bryan likely received offers or at least overtures from virtually everywhere else, but elected to stay with the company that selected Big Cass as his returning programme.

Bryan's most recent run, tellingly, has improved in quality and prominence as he came closer to formally extending it. Where he wrestled Big Cass twice on pay-per-view and took a loss to the Bludgeon Brothers in place of his injured, part-time tag team partner Kane in the spring, he has in recent weeks intensified his programme with The Miz, and been afforded the opportunity to wrestle his preferred style of match in a quality mini-programme opposite Andrade 'Cien' Almas.

It is that side-story that allows us to receive the news with a bit more enthusiasm - though the prospect of his countering the Rainmaker lariat with the Yes! Lock remains pure fantasy booking, sadly.
