Daniel Bryan Winning WWE Title At Over The Limit Idea Got 'Pretty Serious'

The idea of Bryan winning the WWE title from Punk was discussed several times over the past couple of weeks.

PWInsider.com reports that WWE officials were close to putting the WWE Championship on Daniel Bryan at WWE's Over The Limit pay-per-view on Sunday night. The idea of Bryan winning the WWE title from Punk was discussed several times over the past couple of weeks. At one point talks got "pretty serious", though in the end the idea was nixed and WWE finally decided on Punk retaining. Bryan winning the WWE Title would likely have been a reward for his hard work in getting over as WWE World Heavyweight Champion and staying over with the fans despite the 18 second lose to Sheamus at WrestleMania 28. A Bryan vs Punk summer feud for the WWE Title with the Championship switching hands a few times and the title being made the focal point of the feud would get over the title in a way it hasn't been for a long while.
