Darby Allin Injury Update After AEW Double Or Nothing 2024

Having rushed himself back into action for Double or Nothing this past weekend, there's now an injury update on AEW's Darby Allin.

Of course, prior to Double or Nothing, Darby's plans to climb Mount Everest were derailed when he broke his foot in a February match against Jay White. That was then followed by Allin breaking his nose after being hit by a bus(!) in April, with many presuming it would be a prolonged spell on the sidelines for the former two-time TNT Champion. That was, until the Washington native shocked the wrestling world by replacing Eddie Kingston in Double or Nothing's Anarchy in the Arena match.

In typical Darby Allin fashion, he was left beaten and battered by the time all was said at Double or Nothing, including being strung upside down by his bad foot and then kicked in his face with thumbtacks. As such, many were wondering whether Darby received any additional injuries at this PPV.

On this topic, Bryan Alvarez noted on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that there was a concern that Allin may have broken his nose again, but that turned out to not be the case. As for his foot, that was described as not being "any worse than it was" before the show.

As Alvarez explained:

“[Darby's] nose was messed up during the match and they were worried that it might be broken again, but apparently he had an MRI and it's alright. So, that's also good news. But it was looking, you know, last night, his foot, I don't think is any worse than it was going in. I don't know what you saw on television, but they hit his music. Initially, he started sprinting out from backstage, and then I think he realized, 'Whoa,' and he starts limping bad. He was limping, I'm sure his foot is still hurting, but the thing was, you know, I think that you know when you hang somebody upside down, that can actually be super dangerous because all the blood starts rushing to your head. And you don't want to be upside down for a long time. And here's a guy with a busted up nose, a broken nose, upside down hanging, and it was probably excruciatingly painful, but apparently he got the clean bill today. So, that's good."

In terms of any other injury worries, the WOR co-host stated that Jack Perry was fine after the spot where Darby Allin set him on fire, while Alvarez was unable to receive any update on Adam Copeland following his leap from the top of the steel cage in his match against Malakai Black; a leap that saw the WWE Hall of Famer land awkwardly as he planted his feet straight down into the mat.
