Decorated WWE Tag Team To Challenge For NXT Tag Titles At DEADL1NE

Multi-time tag champs confront Pretty Deadly and offer to be opponents.

Pretty Deadly might have beaten all the main tag teams in NXT, but the duo received a challenge from a very unlikely team on Tuesday: SmackDown's New Day.

The nine-time tag champs made their arrival just as Pretty Deadly finished up their Christmas celebration, wondering who they would face at DEADL1NE this weekend and adding that the NXT tag champs haven't dispatched with New Day yet. Elton Prince & Kit Wilson quickly tired of Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods' routine and tried to jump them, only to be overpowered and sent packing with gift boxes over their heads.

For New Day, this is a strange move in storyline, as they're one of the most decorated tag teams in WWE history. But seeing how they aren't getting a shot at the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship anytime soon, they might as well go for the NXT tag titles, which Pretty Deadly have held for three months.

This match also could serve as a main roster tryout for Pretty Deadly, with Kofi and Woods serving as barometers and judging how they do. It's doubtful New Day will win the tag titles at DEADL1NE - this feels like they literally are dropping in for the PLE and then headed back to SmackDown - but we've seen Dolph Ziggler capture the NXT Championship earlier this year, so who knows?
