Reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion and rising star Dominik Mysterio became AAA Mega Champion at the WWE x AAA: Worlds Collide event on Friday. 'Dirty' Dom beat El Hijo del Vikingo to cement his first ever reign with the company's top prize, and he did it in style during a fun main event packed with shenanigans and action.

El Grande Americano got involved in the finish, and it was he who actually helped Mysterio become new Mega Champ. Vikingo tried to stop that from happening, but he was powerless in the end. The legendary Rey Mysterio did fend off various Judgment Day members who also ran in on the bout, and Rey even put his son over in a memorable segment post-match.

Dominik demanded that daddy dearest strap the gold around his waist. Rey complied with a grimace on his face, then was told to get the hell out of Dom Dom's ring. This was just the latest 'passing of the torch' moment from father to son. Inside, Rey must've been beaming with pride over what his boy had just achieved.

Vikingo's second reign as AAA Mega Champion lasted 105 days - he beat Alberto El Patrón at AAA Alianzas on 31 May to bag the title. He'd go on to successfully defend it against the now-injured Chad Gable (also the original Americano) at another Worlds Collide event on 7 June.

It'll be interesting to see whether or not Dominik Mysterio brings the AAA Mega Championship to mainline WWE television. There's no reason why he wouldn't, because this is a milestone moment in his career and one well worth trumpeting on episodes of Raw going forwards.
