Bodyslam.net has confirmed with internal sources that Chad Gable was written off WWE TV on Monday's episode of Raw whilst he deals with "undisclosed" injury issues. The popular workhorse has been pulling double duty as both himself as the offshoot El Grande Americano character, which was proving to be a smash hit with many fans, but Chad will have to put all of this on ice for the time being.

Gable was attacked after goading Penta during a backstage angle on this week's Raw.

Unfortunately, Fightful Select also reported that Americano suffered exactly the same injury as Gable. What a coincidence! Seriously though, follow up word from PWInsider suggests that the heel will undergo surgery to correct things at some point in July. Basically, he could be on the WWE injured list for a while, which is a real bummer and a definite blow to the creative team.

Chad has emerged as one of the most reliable names on the WWE roster. That was true for years, but the promotion itself never seemed to see him as anything more than a bit part player with a ceiling. Unbelievable performances vs. Sami Zayn, Gunther and more, as well as his more recent work under the mask, changed opinion on Gable behind the curtain with the folks in power.

There's obviously no good time for wrestlers to get injured, but this is a real blow to Chad. Hopefully, he makes a full recovery post-surgery and can resume his brilliant work as both himself and Americano. It's worth noting that the masked offshoot currently holds WWE's Speed Title - who knows if Triple H will take that from him, or if WWE even care enough about the social media trinket to do anything in the interim.

Best wishes to Gable.
