It's looking increasingly likely that Drew McIntyre will be leaving WWE at the end of his current deal.

That's according to the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, with Dave Meltzer explaining how it may be as good a time as any to turn the former WWE Champion heel as he appears to be working with the idea of this being his last few months with the company (H/T TJR Wrestling):-

"It’s also very clear the company badly needs a main event heel, and now is the wrong time to turn Rhodes or Rollins, meaning it makes all the sense in the world to turn McIntyre. But more, they need to elevate Reed, Priest, Balor or Mysterio to that top heel level."
“Because McIntyre right now is working with the idea there’s a good chance he’s finishing up, he could do a big program for the title as a challenger and finally leave. Perhaps at that point Randy Orton could return, and there’s always people like Brock Lesnar and Omos that they could add in that spot as a temporary headline program.”

It was noted by Meltzer a few weeks ago that McIntyre and WWE were "still far apart" when it came to agreeing on a new contract. And while it was also explained that Drew was set to return to the company in a couple of weeks around that same time, the Scottish Warrior is still yet to reappear on WWE programming.

Since clashing with Sheamus and GUNTHER at WrestleMania 39, McIntyre hasn't made an appearance on SmackDown or Raw, with this absence being said to be down to health issues/injury. It's also worth noting how he was still included in this year's Draft, ending up on the red brand before the two-night event came to a close.

Drew has also been pulled from advertising for the upcoming U.K. Money in the Bank PLE (via WrestleTalk), with Roman Reigns and Rhea Ripley being swapped in for the big Scot and Charlotte Flair.

Will WWE fans get to see one last big title programme involving a heel McIntyre before the star seemingly decides to call it a day in the world of sports entertainment? And if the mighty Irn Dru does decide to venture outside of WWE, where could he end up next?

All will no-doubt be revealed in the coming months.
