Drew McIntyre's Next WWE Title Challenger Revealed?
Here's who McIntyre might face at Backlash 2020.
Bobby Lashley could step up to the plate to challenge for Drew McIntyre's WWE Championship at the upcoming Backlash 2020 pay-per-view on 14 June.
This speculation comes from Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. While nothing has been confirmed yet, it is believed that Backlash could play host to the showdown between two of Raw's biggest, beefiest boys.
McIntyre successfully defended his strap in an acclaimed match with Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank last Sunday. He will go toe-to-toe with SmackDown's Baron Corbin as WWE's new inter-brand invitation system comes into play on next week's Raw, before seemingly moving in to his true pay-per-view feud.
Recent weeks have seen WWE attempt to build Bobby back up, with the bruiser looking good in squash victories over R-Truth, Denzel Dejournette, and No Way Jose. MVP appears to be taking on the role of Lashley's manager amidst speculation of a new stable, suggesting big things may finally be in the 43-year-old's future.
It'll be interesting to see how WWE goes about this, as the promotion has rarely done a good job of presenting Lashley as a beast. The past few weeks have been good for him, however, so perhaps a corner has been turned.
