Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

1. Luke Hobbs - Fast Five

rocky Fast Five was the surprise hit of 2011. It grossed more money than anyone could have dreamed of and got substantial acclaim and probably more positive reviews than the prior four movies combined, though Tokyo Drift aside, there is a lot of enjoyment to be found in the Fast and Furious franchise. Much of the new found success of the series was due to the addition of The Rock. He brought bulging muscles to rival Vin Diesel's, endless charisma and a genuine star presence that is hard to find in cinema. The movie was gloriously over the top with the action sequences gleefully defying everything they learnt in science class about physics and the walking, talking 250lb boulder of machismo breathed new life into the oxygen starved franchise. The Rock has always been one of the coolest men alive and there's no doubt over his ability to lead an action movie, he's just been let down in the past by a lacklustre supporting cast and lazy writing, but this time, there is nothing to be disappointed about as his showdown with Vin Diesel is of epic proportions. Director Justin Lin uses all of The Rock's attributes intelligently, he wears the tightest of t-shirts, is completely oiled up and is given some biting one liners and it all adds up to his best performance as an actor so far. Now on to the roles that didn't work out so well for The Rock...
