A suspected torn triceps could sideline Edge for an extended period.

Edge suffered a suspected torn triceps while wrestling Randy Orton during the tapings for their "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" at Backlash 2020.

Theirs was the only prerecorded bout on the card, with WWE capturing the footage at the Performance Center on 7 June, then editing it heavily ahead of last night's broadcast. The promotion had done well to keep the injury quiet in the week leading up to the pay-per-view but Fightful broke the story just before the show started.

The point at which Edge suffered the injury isn't clear, though he was sporting a bruise on his arm for much of it:-

WWE is yet to comment on the matter, though a torn triceps typically comes with a recovery time of around eight months. Some patients don't reach a full range of motion until a year after suffering the injury.

There's a chance the situation may be addressed on tonight's episode of Raw. This show has already been taped.

A disappointing turn of events for Edge, whose cathartic comeback from a nine-year absence peaked with his epic Royal Rumble return, though last night's match was pretty great itself. Fingers crossed for a swift recovery.
