Barely 12 hours have passed since Edge broke the internet with a heart-stopping return at Royal Rumble 2020, but his first big post-comeback match is already being signposted.

Per Dave Meltzer on today's episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE plans on booking 'The Rated-R Superstar' against Randy Orton going forward, which might just be the smartest, most sensible option coming out of the Rumble.

Orton and Edge were practically attached at the hip throughout the bout. Reprising Rated RKO, they teamed up for long, long stretches, and almost fell apart when Edge turned around to find 'The Viper' setting up for an RKO. Their shaky reunion didn't last long after that, as the comeback king lobbed Randy out of the ring to reach the final three.

A safe, slick pro-wrestler adored by his peers, Orton is a good pair of hands for anyone returning from a long-term absence - particularly when said absence was almost nine years long. His in-built history with Edge makes for an easy programme as well.

Though no date was specified, WWE's Saudi Arabian return (27 February) or WrestleMania 36 (5 April) look the likeliest blow-off points for this potential feud.
