Elias' New WWE Gimmick "Too Much Like Randy Savage"
WWE nixed their plans for Elias because Vince McMahon didn't like recent changes.
WWE has reportedly scrapped plans to repackage Elias because the recent gimmick they trialed for him was "too much like Randy Savage".
WrestleVotes also claimed on Twitter that the company had no concrete direction for the one-time music man after burning his guitar during a series of dramatic vignettes over the summer - Vince McMahon and his creative team obviously believed they'd come up with something sooner rather than later.
Elias is still waiting, and it doesn't look like his colourful new look is gonna fly with the boss man.
The heel hasn't worked in-ring since losing a 'Symphony Of Destruction' bout to fellow straggler Jaxson Ryker on the 19 July edition of Raw. It doesn't seem like there will be any movement for Eli in the short-term either, especially if his latest character hasn't even made it to dark matches before Raw or SmackDown.
It didn't pass McMahon's sniff test behind the scenes.
Fans online responded to WrestleVotes report with typical sarcasm, but some are interested to see what Elias looked like as an up-to-date 'Macho Man'. Sadly, this revamped look could be left on the cutting room floor.
