Elias returned to WWE television for the first time in over four months on last night's Raw, cracking his guitar across Jeff Hardy's back to cost the former Intercontinental Champion his Triple Threat with AJ Styles and Seth Rollins.

Styles scored the victory on the back of Elias' interference. The former 'Drifter' mocked the downed Jeff as he headed back up the ramp, having seemingly kickstarted a new feud with Hardy, who joined him in being drafted from SmackDown to Raw on the night.

Elias has made only sporadic WWE appearances recently, working only six televised matches since September 2019. His last was a victory over Baron Corbin on SmackDown's 15 May 2020 episode, having previously defeated WWE's 'King' at WrestleMania 36, before he was involved in a kayfabe car accident in order to write him off television. This was done to allow him to go under the knife after suffering a legitimate torn pectoral muscle.

A recovery time of around 6-9 months was originally pegged for Elias, though it looks like he has recovered ahead of schedule.

Raw also represented a heel turn for Elias, who had been working babyface prior to his departure, primarily through the Corbin feud.
