Ember Moon Considered Retirement In 2020
New NXT Women's Tag Team Champion almost called it quits while injured.
Fresh off capturing the newly-established NXT Women's Tag Team Championships last week with Shotzi Blackheart, Ember Moon has revealed she contemplated retiring from in-ring competition while dealing with injuries in 2020.
The former NXT Women's Champion had suffered a torn Achilles tendon while participating in a 24/7 Championship skit in September 2019, not resurfacing until transferring to the NXT roster in October of last year. She confronted Women's Champion, Io Shirai.
In a post on her official Instagram account made after capturing the titles with Blackheart on Wednesday, Moon stated the following:-
It's taken me a few days to process this. Last year around this time I was thinking I would never enter ring again and was considering retiring. And now I can call myself champion again.
In a way, Ember's unfortunate injury was a blessing in disguise for her career.
She's relevant again, instead of constantly being underutilised. Her alliance with Shotzi has made for some entertaining television over the last few months, with their winning of the titles coming on the same night they were unveiled by William Regal, dethroning the inaugural champions, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez.
