3. The New Day

It felt like The New Day had lost their way at the start of the year. Having finally broken Demolition's long-held Tag Title record, the trio bounced from one pointless lower-midcard angle to another on Raw, regurgitating the same, repetitive promo every time they appeared. They were going nowhere, and it was clear creative had no idea what to do with them.

Moving to SmackDown as part of April's Superstar Shake-Up solved everything. With Kofi Kingston ruled out through injury, The New Day were forced to take some time off, but eventually returned with a rejuvenated sense of purpose. They feel fresh again, and while the gimmick will never be as exciting as it was at its peak, they remain one of SD's most enjoyable acts, and have starred in the brand's best feud of 2017 thus far (vs. The Usos).

Kofi and Big E have always been great in the ring, but Xavier Woods has improved exponentially this year, and no longer feels like the trio's weak link. Fans are now guaranteed a great match regardless of which New Day combination steps between the ropes, and their upcoming Hell in a Cell clash with The Usos should be another tag match of the year contender.
