The very smallest removal from the energetic brightness of Dynamite's atmosphere just made it feel a bit off at times. The PPV was darkly-lit and the crowd wasn't mic'd as well as usual. This is a minor complaint made against a promotion that is held to the highest standard.

Elsewhere, the show f*cking ruled.

Young Bucks Vs. Santana and Ortiz while a bit long was an excellent hybrid of fun spots and substantive drama. Hangman Page Vs. PAC was an exceptional match with as much physical impact as nuanced craft. Riho and Emi Sakura disgraced the grim lack of storyline build with emotional turbo-charged drama. AEW has presented significantly better Tag Team Title matches than the spotty/exhilarating three way, and Joey Janela Vs. Shawn Spears while solid just wasn't premium at all. The last two matches however were phenomenal in completely different ways.

Cody Vs. Chris Jericho and its incredible, serendipitous finish restored the elegant prestige of a World Title fight, where Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley restored what wrestling violence used to feel like in a 40 minute death ride loaded with lush detail.
