5. SCU - World Tag Team Title

SCU earned those titles.

Popular enduring vets with a killer act, their crucial, tone-setting openers at Double Or Nothing and All Out were six-man tag bangers that popped the cork on the celebration of the return of mainstream competition. They were the first of many lowkey AEW MVPs.

An early and noble failure at the deft, dovetailing booking with which AEW Dynamite would really start to cook in 2020, Scorpio's Sky foray into the World Title picture removed focus from the Tag Team Titles. And in something of an indictment of what was a sentimental decision to strap SCU, the cracking Young Bucks Vs. Santana and Ortiz feud felt significantly more important. SCU's first big defence, opposite the Lucha Bros. and Private Party at Full Gear, was electric but very uneven - a regression from their tight and emotive work throughout the Tag Team Title tournament.

Otherwise relegated to Dark, SCU entered a superb performance in a tremendous sprint against the Bucks on the December 18 Dynamite overwhelmed entirely by the infamously bad Dark Order initiation angle.

Bookmarked wonderfully by their outstanding title loss to Kenny Omega and Hangman Page on Chris Jericho's Cruise, everything in between articulated that which is felt: the great, early booking didn't launch a great reign.

Champions, simply, must feel like champions. SCU weren't that.
