Gaining a !*$% in her armour for the first time at the previous TakeOver event in Orlando (more on that later), Asuka entered her Chicago Triple Threat against the resilient Nikki Cross and unknown quantity Ruby Riot carrying the burden of audience doubt for the first time in her NXT career.

Cross had remained immune from damage after January's fatal four-way, having been dropped through a table shortly before Asuka decimated her remaining opponents, with the lingering sense that she could potentially defeat the 'Empress Of Tomorrow' given a cleaner run at the Champion.

Unfortunately for the SAnitY member, she was again foiled by someone other than the the titleholder. Inexperienced at that level and unaware fully of the challenge Asuka presented, Riot worked over Cross extensively in an effort to take the belt without pinning the champion.

And though she scored with a series of dives and high risk moves late in the match, her insistence on sticking with the Scottish superstar as foe of choice gave Asuka a valued rest period, almost tapping out the 'Punk Rock Ragdoll' with the Asuka Lock ahead of Cross making a breathtaking save.

The champion simply had more gas in the tank. Finishing the match with a pinfall on both rivals, Asuka levelled Riot with a Shining Wizard as she covered cross, collapsing on the pair to retain in typically glorious fashion.
