That Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson's NJPW tag team run is so heavily romanticised by fans likely comes as a result of their poor booking in WWE. The brothers bald are lucky to make TV these days, and despite a brief Raw Tag Title run and occasional flirtations with former allies AJ Styles and Finn Balor, they're never given anything to work with.

Holding the IWGP Tag Team Titles for 601 days across three reigns, they dominated the division for long periods. The match quality often wasn't there, though. Yes, they were well-positioned, and yes, Anderson offered flashes of brilliance, but their run wasn't the highlight its often made out as.

Gallows himself was an effective bruiser. His shortcomings were badly exposed in the G1 Climax, but just like today, he was fine in a tag setting. He wasn't half as important to Bullet Club as his partner either, though we'll get to Anderson later on...
