at SummerSlam 2011 Kelly Kelly defended the Diva's Championship against Beth Phoenix, and despite not being the story that many people wanted to see at the time, they put on a more than decent match. Beth was physically dominant throughout, and Kelly was only able to survive with her championship intact via a mixture of perseverance, pluckiness and pinning prowess.

Kelly Kelly may very well have been the poster girl for WWE's attempts to turn women's wrestling into a sideshow of bikini models and untrained smilers, but in all fairness to her she improved quicker than most give her credit for. Sure, she wasn't exactly a female Brian Pillman between the ropes, but she was never ever going to be.

What she was was a popular babyface in a division that was floundering in 2011. WWE was never going to go forward with Phoenix as the dominant heel, so Kelly winning here was fine. This was probably as good a match as Kelly Kelly could have.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
