Nobody wanted creative fulfilment in WWE more than Mustafa Ali. The former Retribution leader gave his all no matter what garbage the writers scribbled down for him, but it was all for naught. The promotion were never going to push Ali the way he and his adoring fans thought he should've been pushed.

Mustafa had previously requested his release from contract in early-2022, but Vince McMahon turned it down flat. Christ knows why when he didn't have any major plans for the guy, but working out McMahon's thought processes would drive one quite mad.

Fans worldwide still expect to see Ali show up in AEW at some point.
