Every WWE 'I Quit' Match Ranked - From Worst To Best
1. Mick Foley Vs. Ric Flair - SummerSlam 2006
Yes, a grudge match between a 57-year-old and a 41-year-old man is the best 'I Quit' match in WWE history, and there can be little argument about that. There can be all sorts of arguments about the finish, which is another lame 'quit or I'll hurt this defenceless woman' addition to the trope, but the thirteen minutes before Melina's involvement are absolutely fantastic.
Things get violent quickly, and a barbed wire covered Mr. Socko gets involved early. Flair uses it to chop Foley, the first glimpse that these two old men aren't done yet. There is more barbed wire in the shape of a board Foley brings into the match, and everything jumps up when the thumbtacks are introduced.
In fact, one of the best things about this match is the fact that the thumbtacks don't come back to bite Foley on the botty. He dumps them onto the canvas and slams Flair on to them. Simple. He isn't so lucky the barbed wire baseball bat however, which Flair gets control of and uses to try and take Foley's eyes out.
Melina comes out to stop the mayhem, but Flair amps up the brutality by wailing away at Foley some more. Melina throws in the towel but the Alimony Pony isn't having any of it, deciding to inflict more misery on the former Dude Love. Flair then focuses in on Melina, baseball bat in hand, which is enough for Foley to quit.
Sure, the finish is awful, but good lord this match rules. It is easily the best 'I Quit' match WWE has ever put on.
