2003 was a bad year if you were a WWE fan who didn't enjoy seeing the McMahon Family all over your screen. Heck, that could also be any year between 1997 and now, but 2003 was particularly bad in this respect. No Mercy 2003 featured Father taking on Daughter in an 'I Quit' match, with the added bonus of the loser having to resign/being fired.

It was Vince McMahon vs. Stephanie McMahon, and it was okay? It was fine? I mean, it certainly wasn't Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit or even Vince McMahon vs. Shane McMahon, but it was way, way better than most expected it would be going in. Of course, going in most expected something resembling a wet fart, but there we go.

There was a grand total of zero athleticism on show here but the two involved did all they could to forward the story, which in honesty is kinda the point in pro wrestling, isn' it? Linda McMahon (in case you weren't getting enough McMahon here) threw in the towel to end the coldhearted beating of her daughter by her husband, and Vince strutted off into the sun with Sable.

He's had a good life.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
