26. Austin Theory

Time With Contract Before Cash-In: 129 Days

A test from Triple H of exactly how much of a loser he can make somebody before trying to build them back up again and claim it to be the success story of the year, Austin Theory getting humiliated over and over again during cash-in attempts was the theme of Summer 2022.

It got so bad that he did what nobody had ever lowered themselves into doing and attempted to cash in to win a secondary belt instead. He lost that as well, falling to United States Champion Seth Rollins before eventually winning it in a normal setting as the listless rebuild began. Half a year and a victory over John Cena later, and the jury's out on how smart the dumb plan really was.
