Every WWE PPV Of 2016 Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Battleground
Battleground felt like a breath of fresh air, a sign that WWE was on the cusp of great change. Lines had been drawn, drafts had been picked, and fans were ready for WWE to enter its fabled ‘New Era’. Battleground didn’t disappoint.
Bayley’s main roster debut garnered a huge pop, and The Wyatt Family vs The New Day was a lot of fun, as was The Club vs John Cena and Enzo & Cass. The Shield Triple Threat main event was great too, particularly when Dean Ambrose picked up the win to take the WWE Championship to Smackdown.
The match of the night was undoubtedly Sami Zayn
vs Kevin Owens. An utterly intense and emotional match, filled with stiff kicks
and high-risk spots, this was one of few main roster PPV matches that lived up
to its considerable build and hype. It seems crazy that Owens and Zayn have
been fighting/teaming for so long, and can still produce magic every time they
step into the ring.
