Every WWE Release Of 2021 - Where Are They Now? (Five Years Later)

65. Alexander Wolfe

Then: Well-grounded veteran Alexander Wolfe can look back on his role in 2 distinctly different WWE factions. He was part of SAnitY on NXT for a while, complete with the madcap mayhem that group brought. Then, it's easy to forget that Wolfe was also in the Gunther-led Imperium stable too - he was with them through NXT UK and onto NXT proper, but didn't make the main roster with his former mates.

Another thing that's often forgotten: Wolfe wrestled a few matches for German outfit wXw whilst still under WWE contract in 2019 and 2020. He'd even defeat future WWE man Ilja Dragunov at one stage, which is a quirky little bit of trivia for the hardcores out there.

He'd eventually be let go between May-June 2021.

Now: Wolfe has gone back to his prior Axel Tischer name since leaving WWE, and he hasn't been sitting on the couch watching TV. Nope, Axel has been travelling around the globe showing what he can do for everyone from wXw to ICW in Glasgow, Scotland and Progress in London, England.

He's reformed a tag-team with old SAnitY pal Big Damo (Killian Dain) that has helped both too. Tischer is in a neat spot in terms of enjoying the graft that comes with independent wrestling - he doesn't necessarily need WWE or AEW to be happy, which is an awesome position to be in.

Sure, the money would be nice, but Axel gets to do things on his own terms and pretty much be his own boss. Good for him.
