The Rock assaults bad guys with a lump of wood for 86 minutes, and that's actually pretty OK. Critics didn't much like the movie, which they rightly criticised for being simplistic and one-note, but it was also a mightily entertaining revenge flick due to Rocky's presence and some solid supporting work from Johnny Knoxville.

It's good for two things: bro-tastic banter between Rock and Knoxville, and some kick-a** action when Rocky needs to bring his town to order. It's got no deeper meaning or much in the way of character development, but it gets the job done. This is quality movie junk food.
