Everything You Need To Know About The NWA's 70th Anniversary Pay-Per-View
7. The World Women's Championship
The World Women’s title is one of the oldest championships in all of wrestling, in fact it predates the NWA itself. The title evolved from the Women’s Championship that Mildred Burke won in 1935 and is also the belt that the Fabulous Moolah held for over a combined three decades. In 1983, when the World Wrestling Federation withdrew from the NWA, Moolah stayed with the WWF -- taking the Women’s title along and forcing the Alliance to crown a new champion.
Since then the NWA belt has been defended across the United States until it eventually found its way into the hands of current champion, Jazz. The former ECW competitor, WWE Women’s Champion, and current prison guard has been undefeated since capturing the belt in 2016.
However, at the 70th Anniversary show, Jazz will face her toughest challenger yet in the form of Penelope Ford. Only 26 years old, Ford has already competed for numerous independent promotions around the country. She even previously challenged for the NWA Women’s title in 2016. The question now is will she be able to defeat one of the toughest and most experienced veterans in all of women’s wrestling.
