Ex-Writer Says WWE Never Believed In Kofi Kingston
"Kofi was getting squashed by Brock from DAY ONE!"
"No one who had any real sway [in WWE] believed in Kofi [Kingston]."
This is the word of former WWE writer Dave Schilling, who made the comments in response to a tweet talking about white privilege in professional wrestling, including a clip of Big E speaking on last week's episode of Talking Smack.
Schilling posted the following:-
Following up on this, Schilling stated that WWE planned to have Brock Lesnar squash Kingston to end his popular WWE Championship reign from "day one." Schilling - a former VICE, Grantland, and Bleacher Report writer - was part of WWE's creative team from February 2019 to April 2019.
Kingston experienced a sensational rise to the top of the card in 2019, culminating with him defeated Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35. It was a fantastic match and an all-time great 'Mania moment, and was followed by Kingston fending off challenges from Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler, and more in a 180-day reign.
Lesnar ended said reign via murdersquash on SmackDown's 4 October debut on FOX, beating Kofi in just seven seconds. Kingston's New Day stablemate, Big E, is now attempting to replicate this run while his partners are injured.
