As previously covered, Cain Velasquez was taken in by police following an alleged shooting in San Jose, California on Monday, with the former WWE and UFC star held without bail after an incident that saw one man taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In an update, TMZ report that Velasquez spent the night in jail, having been booked on an attempted murder charge.

While specifics on the incident remain unclear, police sources have informed the outlet that Velasquez was, indeed, involved in the shooting near a high school. Cain was still in jail as of Wednesday morning and is now due to be arraigned on the attempted murder charges later today.

Further details on what happened in San Jose have not yet been disclosed.

Though best known for his work in the UFC, where he is a former Heavyweight Champion and felled such names as Brock Lesnar, Cain has been active in professional wrestling since 2019. Debuting through AAA, he moved over to WWE that October and fought Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel 2019, though he was released due to "budget cuts" the following April.

December saw Velasquez return to an AAA ring for the promotion's TripleMania Regia 2021 show.
