Former WWE star Fred Rosser, who worked in the promotion as Darren Young, has revealed that CM Punk approached him with a touching show of support.

Rosser told 'Insider's Edge' that he'd recently come out as gay when Punk walked over to him in catering and asked Fred to stand up. Obliging, the then-Darren Young stood up and wondered what was coming next. That's when Punk gave him a giant hug and told him "he had [his] back".

Rosser appreciated that, because he had been worried about how the WWE locker room might react to his news. Punk wanted to let Fred know that he'd stick up for him if anybody started giving him sh*t for his personal life.

That classy moment is one Rosser has never forgotten.

He also recalled being positioned as Punk's 'Rookie' on the old NXT concept - the pair didn't really speak a lot during those days ("he probably said a handful of words to me during that entire season"), so it was even more surprising to Fred that Punk later extended the hand of friendship.

What a lovely story.
