Ex-WWE Star Says Release "Motivated" Him

This wrestler says he plans to make WWE chiefs 'want me back' eventually.

Former WWE wrestler Steve Maclin, who wrestled for the company as Steve Cutler, has revealed that being released in February 2021 "motivated" him to make something more of his career.

Maclin has since signed with IMPACT Wrestling, and told the 'Tru Heel Heat Wrestling' show that he fancies turning some heads and making WWE wish they could sign him all over again. That's part of the plan, but so is having fun and putting on good matches in IMPACT.

As Cutler, Steve is best-remembered for being part of the Forgotten Sons stable on NXT. The group didn't experience much main roster success, and a gig alongside Baron Corbin (as one of the then-'King's' henchmen) didn't lead to anything sustainable either.

WWE decided to terminate Maclin's contract in early-2021, and he signed with IMPACT that summer. Since then, he's been on a one-man mission to show his old employer what they're missing out on. However, somewhat surprisingly, Maclin says he wasn't "discouraged" by leaving WWE behind.

He's more motivated than ever, and encourages every pro wrestler out there to enjoy working in the industry regardless of WWE interest. That's sage advice.
