Ex-WWE Star Says Vince McMahon Was His "Best Friend" On Raw

A budding friendship between Vince McMahon and lil' Lio Rush sounds like the kind of thing you'd see in some daytime TV buddy cop action drama, but it actually happened.

In fact, Rush told Wrestling Inc, he considered the WWE boss one of his "best friends" at one stage. Lio would spend hours in Vince's office before filming episodes of Monday Night Raw "every Monday", and he enjoyed their one-to-one sessions.

The polarising ex-Cruiserweight Champion was Bobby Lashley's "hype man" at the time. He claims 99.9% of that booking was McMahon's idea in the first place, and he wonders if they could've done more with it. Still, Lio knows he wouldn't have been on television at all had McMahon been sour on the pairing.

"I wouldn’t have had all of those segments on Raw if I wasn’t likeable to Vince", he said.

That's a good point - without Vince's blessing, Lashley and Lio would never have been featured as heavily on TV as it was. Rush went on to say that he was "probably closer to Vince than [he] was to Bobby".
