Ex-WWE Star Shoots On "Tough" Problems With NXT UK

Triple H and WWE should build NXT UK around someone specific, according to this ex-star.

Former WWE man Davey Boy Smith Jr (who wrestled alongside Tyson Kidd as David Hart Smith in The Hart Dynasty tag-team) has told Hannibal TV that NXT UK needs more "name power" before it can be taken seriously by fans.

Smith Jr isn't talking about the NXT UK branding itself. Instead, he's concerned that the show's roster is a little thin when it comes to marketable names that fans can identify with or want to see.

During the interview, Davey Boy put himself forward as the kind of wrestler WWE could build the entire brand around. He added that NXT UK could do with some more involvement from stars like Finn Bálor too, and he also named WALTER as someone Triple H should really think about as a brand linchpin again.

Smith Jr did point out that COVID-related travel restrictions have put WWE in a tough spot when it comes to building NXT UK. The show is currently taped on a closed set in blocks, but Davey doesn't think that's doing much to make it appealing to fans.

He'd love to come in and lead the roster.
