WWE's production team better get the paperclips at the ready; a Hurricane's about to blow through the office.

Just a few days after Impact veterans Abyss and Sonjay Dutt were announced as new behind-the-scenes WWE employees, WrestlingInc has learned that Shane 'Hurricane' Helms has been offered a role as a new producer with the company.

Former Cruiserweight Champion Helms was last plying his trade in Ring Of Honor, though his last WWE appearance came as recently as last year's Royal Rumble, when a brief cameo ended in elimination at the hands of John Cena.

Helms' contract was included in WWE's buyout of WCW way back in 2001, and he eventually became privileged as one of the few lower-card talents of the defunct Atlanta promotion the new company made a virtue of. The height of Helms' run came under the guise of 'The Hurricane', a tongue-in-cheek superhero gimmick loosely modelled on the Green Lantern.

Helms, 44, is not expected to compete in-ring for WWE, but it isn't known whether this transition into a backstage role draws time on his lengthy career. He is expected to take up his new role today.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
