Ex-WWE Tag-Team Sets Record Straight On Surprising Company Exit
They've stayed silent for a long time, but here's the real story from released WWE stars.
Eyebrows were raised when WWE released AOP duo Akam and Rezar back in September 2020.
The tag-team had been involved in a major storyline with Seth Rollins on TV, and they also seemed to be Vince McMahon's kind of workers, so it seemed rather surprising when they were let go. Now, during an interview with Ango, the lads have set the record straight on what actually happening.
According to Akam and Rezar, they left the company for personal reasons. They didn't have any heat with WWE officials, and they weren't desperately unhappy with their lot on TV. No, instead, AOP were understandably freaked out by the COVID-19 pandemic and wanted to take care of their families at home.
So, selflessly, they took themselves out of the game.
Both guys described the frightening "uncertainty" that was swirling around the globe in 2020. Rather definitively, the pair said they "have no ill will" towards anyone at WWE - they just wanted to keep the most important folks in their lives as safe as possible.
Things have changed though, and AOP are keen to get back out there in front of wrestling fans.
