WWE star Big E has named Roman Reigns as his ideal WrestleMania 38 opponent, doing so in a new interview with WhatCulture's Adam Wilbourn.

The current Intercontinental Champion showered Reigns with praise when asking about potentially facing his Universal counterpart at next year's Showcase of the Immortals:-

"That's the goal, you know? To be in that tier, to be at the very top. I think Roman's done a stellar job. 'Stellar' isn't even a good enough superlative to describe how much he's elevated himself, even though he was already at the top. And I think his presentation, the promos, the character stuff, all that stuff has been really cool to see, and he's been killing it. Much respect to him."

Reigns returned to WWE as a fully-fledged heel at SummerSlam 2020, then immediately took the Universal Title from 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt at Payback the following week. He has held the strap ever since, reinventing himself as SmackDown's Head of the Table in the process, running the show while delivering some of his career's most acclaimed work.

E, meanwhile, has been hitting his own highs since embarking on his singles run, with his ongoing spell as Intercontinental Champion drawing widespread praise.

On the match itself, Big E said the following:-

"I think that would be as far as if I could pick any opponent, that would be the one. So hopefully by next year he's still got the title - and that'd be over 400 days. We'll see, there's a lot that can happen from now until then, but that would be it."

E had been speculated as a potential opponent for Reigns at WrestleMania 37, though WWE went down a different path by having Royal Rumble winner Edge challenge Roman instead. Reigns will defend the Universal Title against the returning veteran if he is successful against Daniel Bryan at Payback 2020 next week.

There's currently no word on who E might face at 'Mania 37, but his feud with Apollo Crews rumbles on.
