Exploring The Success Rate Of 7 WCW Ideas In WWE

1. The NWO

It's hard to explain properly just how hot the nWo angle was in the mid-to-late-'90s to those who didn't live through it. That edgy logo preceded WWE's own Attitude one, and the monochrome cool of the faction was so effectively portrayed that it immediately made the regular WCW product look boring and tame.

That was part of the problem. When the supposed heels are more likeable than the supposed babyfaces, it's difficult to get fans on side with the latter. The nWo ended up dominating the show completely, so much so that splinter groups like the nWo Wolfpac made WCW look like the third force in the company.

A move to WWE in 2002 didn't work out either. That original aura was gone, partly because the nWo were drafted in by the Mr. McMahon character and also because fans longed to cheer for Hulk Hogan-led nostalgia. Just a few months later (and following significant lineup changes), the New World Order were put out to pasture.

Success: Never once looked as cool as they had in WCW during a short WWE run. To those who know how powerful they were between 1996-98, the 2002 stint is a blight on the nWo's record.
