Exposing The Absolute Dumbest Criticism Of AEW

AJ Styles, Ric Flair

Even the sh*t-brained can comprehend that, having been kicked in the shin plenty enough. To those fiercely loyal to WWE - protective over it - it might feel like AEW is attacking that which it is also plagiarising.

TNA received similar criticism during its own, aspirational version of wartime, and TNA deserved it. TNA too often aspired to be WWE to its laughable detriment. The TNA recruitment model draws comparisons to AEW, when in fact, TNA took the opposite approach to AEW; the stars imported from WWE were received as demigods by virtue of having graced Orlando with their presence.

Hulk Hogan's WWE Hall of Fame ring was put over on the alternative's TV as a profound achievement. AJ Styles was decorated in Ric Flair's robe, as if the symbolism of another company's past meant more than the actual human being of TNA's present. The debuting, wildly irrelevant Val Venis went over homegrown act (Christopher) Daniels in a shocking, immediate illustration of the Hogan/Bischoff regime mentality. It had become a WWF tribute show, only filmed in a theme park sound stage, and not a leisure centre or social club.

AEW is different. This is the "dumb" part.

AEW has to hold up a gigantic f*cking flashing neon sign over its head bearing the words "We are going to push these acts because they failed in WWE, not succeeded!" to get them over with their audience.
