Final Matches Of WWE’s Latest Releases: Ranked
9. Tucker - SmackDown 01/04/2021
André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
The André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal isn’t quite as prestigious as it was intended, or even was in the past. Nevertheless, it served as a logical way to give a large section of the mid and under card their chance to have a ‘Mania moment. This year’s offering was shunted onto the SmackDown before WrestleMania weekend.
Tucker was largely lost in the scramble, but he noticeably cut a slimmer figure, wrestling in silver trousers. Commentary referenced that it had been some time since we last saw Tucker, but he was soon double teamed and eliminated by Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. Tucker was the match’s second elimination.
Of those released, Tucker was a logical choice. As a member of Heavy Machinery, he could have had a decent tag team run, but was left astray when the team prematurely split. The company did him no favours when they even botched his obligatory jealous former partner feud with Otis. Done right, this could've established him as a solo act.
Tucker's improved physique is promising and he is certainly an act who could thrive given creative freedom in a smaller promotion.
