After weeks of speculation and much debate about whether he would be back in time to get a spot on the WrestleMania 33 card, Finn Balor has finally made his long-awaited return to action.

The former WWE Universal champion jumped back into the ring at a house show in Buffalo, New York, performing in a multi-man match.

In a contest that could have served as an awesome pay-per-view main event, Balor partnered up with Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn to take on Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and Triple H, a trio of heels that would make for an interesting stable.

The Irish superstar had been on the shelf since undergoing shoulder surgery in August for an injury he suffered against Seth Rollins in the bout where he was crowned the inaugural Universal title holder. Rumors had begun to swirl that Balor would be back sooner than originally predicted and he fueled those through posts on his social media, hinting that his return was imminent.

WWE tweeted out a video of his entrance for the match that saw Jericho pin his former best friend Owens after nailing him with a codebreaker, and then followed that up with another tweet of "The Demon King" - sans paint - interacting with excited fans in the ringside area and speaking to the camera about how great it felt to be back.

This now leaves us with the obvious questions of where, or if, Finn Balor fits in at WrestleMania 33. There'll be time to answer those questions in the days to come, but for now let's just celebrate that one of the most talented overall performers on the Raw roster is back in action.
